TINT DARKNESS & SHADES

The legality of the darkness of your window tint is based on the state your vehicle is titled. Each state has different laws. In Ohio, the law regulates the tint on your front two doors and the windshield. Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 4501-41 outlines what is legal in our state. No matter what state you are driving in, the law applies to the state on your license plate.

Ohio law seems complicated when you read it word for word. Simplified it says your front two doors in the vehicle to the right and left of the driver must be no darker than 50%. The windshield can not be any darker than 75%. The visor strip can not go lower than the AS1 line or 5”, whichever is closer to the top of the windshield. The reflective, red and yellow tint is all illegal in Ohio. All other glass is not regulated and can be as dark as you like.

WHICH TINT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

AAP carries four variations of Formula one tint. Classic series, Pinnacle Series, Stratos Series and AirBlue 80. The higher the number the lighter the shade. Your clear window without any tint would more than likely meter at around 97%. 5% is what some people refer to as limo tint. Classic comes in 50%, 35%, 20%, 15% and 5%. Pinnacle comes in 50%, 35%, 25%, 15% and 5%. We carry the Stratos line by 50%, 35%  and 15%. AirBlue 80 is an almost clear film designed for full windshields and something to add over your factory privacy glass to add UV and superior heat rejection without darkening the window.
